St Anthony’s Church | Srilankan Guides

St. Anthony’s Church in Sri Lanka is very popular. Lots of people visit it on weekends, Tuesdays, and during big festivals. People from all over the world come here because they believe miracles can happen here. The church used to be a small mud building a long time ago, but in 1806, it was made much bigger.

Where is it? It’s in Kochchikade.

What’s special? Inside, there’s a statue of St. Anthony that came from Goa, India. It’s kept safe in a strong glass box. Tuesdays are extra special here, with special masses and ceremonies in Tamil, English, and Sinhala languages all day long. On weekdays, they have services in Tamil and Sinhala. And on weekends, they have services in Tamil, English, and Sinhala too.
