Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple

This cave monastery has been a holy place for 22 centuries. It has five sanctuaries and is the biggest and most well-kept cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings, covering an area of 2,100 square meters, are very important, as are the 157 statues.

The Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple is in central Sri Lanka, and it’s an active Buddhist site centered around five cave shrines. Buddhist monks have lived in these natural caves since the 3rd century BCE. Over the years, these caves have been continuously transformed into one of the largest and most remarkable Buddhist complexes in Southern and Southeast Asia, showcasing unique designs for interiors and decorations.
